The industry now releases around 60 to 70 films annually, catering to rural and semi-urban audiences with exaggerated depictions of rural life, but with a significant focus on explicit content. This content is characterized by an overt objectification of women, reducing them to visual spectacles. Academic research notes that women are "perceived mostly in negative or outrageous roles... dressed in provocative clothes; seen as rejected, abused, and admired for her heaving bosoms and pelvic thrusts". This trend is most visible in the industry’s music, which dominates the cultural conversation.
