Charles Kovacs (1907–2001) led an extraordinary life that shaped his unique approach to teaching history and mythology. Born in Vienna, Austria, he was forced to leave his homeland in 1938 during the Anschluss , the annexation of Austria by the Third Reich. He joined the British Army in East Africa, and after the war, he settled in Britain. In 1956, he took over a class at the Rudolf Steiner School in Edinburgh, where he remained a class teacher until his retirement in 1976. English
