In 2012, at the peak of her career, Manisha was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. The initial diagnosis was terrifying; she later recalled thinking, . However, her successful recovery not only saved her life but transformed her entirely. She launched the “Manisha’s MythBusters” campaign for ovarian cancer awareness month to dispel misconceptions about the disease.
Born into Nepal's politically prominent Koirala family, Manisha bypassed politics to pursue the performing arts, heavily inspired by her grandmother's devotion to classical dance. She entered Indian cinema with Subhash Ghai's Saudagar (1991).
