Open your VCDS cable casing by removing the screws hidden under the sticker label. Inspect the internal Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Confirm your board contains the following chips: The main central processing unit chip. FT232RQ (or FT232BL): The USB-to-serial communication chip.

Look at the command checkboxes on the left side of the interface. Ensure the following items are checked: Verify Erase Program Flash Program EEPROM Step 3: Read and Clear the Chip (Optional but Recommended)

Input these values into your programmer interface and click . Step 4: Flash the Firmware and EEPROM

Open-source command-line or GUI utilities used to write the flash and EEPROM data.

Open your VCDS software, navigate to Options , and click Test . The software should return a status screen showing: Interface: Found! , followed by the firmware version you just flashed.
