When a scooter is bricked or a downgrade is impossible through software, the hardware-level solution is to use an ST-Link programmer. This device connects directly to the scooter's ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) to flash firmware directly onto the chip. An ESX user explained: "Habe bei den Scootern den ESC Controller ausgebaut und per ST-Link einen FW Downgrade nach der Anleitung hier im Forum gemacht" (I removed the ESC controller from the scooters and performed a FW downgrade via ST-Link according to the instructions in the forum). While highly effective, this is a complex procedure that requires technical skill and completely voids your warranty.

Firmware is the low-level software embedded in your scooter’s hardware chips (BMS, DRV, and Bluetooth). Unlike a mobile app update, firmware controls how your scooter accelerates, brakes, reads battery levels, and communicates with the motor.
