Eino Tamberg (1930–2010) was a leading figure in Estonian music. He studied composition at the Tallinn Conservatory under Eugen Kapp, graduating in 1953. Tamberg was a key initiator of the anti-romantic composition movement of the late 1950s and a central representative of the so-called "New Wave" in Estonian music, embracing a distinctly modern neoclassicism. His music is known for its masterful form and inventive use of extended tonality and free atonality.
