If you need more control, put the THG3000 in (sometimes called Bridge Mode) and connect your own high-end router behind it. This bypasses the THG3000’s routing and Wi-Fi, using it solely as a modem. The ISP manages the modem firmware, and you manage your router’s firmware.

Firmware updates are controlled entirely by the ISP, not Zyxel. If the ISP stops pushing updates, the router becomes vulnerable. You cannot flash generic Zyxel firmware onto ISP-branded hardware (it will usually brick the device or be rejected). thg3000 router firmware
